Fear of Stained Glass Windows and Churches Sharon Tuesday, March 6, 2012

Question:

Approx. a 10 year old daughter of a single Mom who is a close friend of mine has numerous medical issues, including ADH. She also has a dreaded fear of stained glass windows and churches. She will cross the street when passing a church and would never enter one. She was baptized by a lay person but due to her fears does not attend CCD. Unfortunately her mother does not attend Mass. I pray for her almost daily. I fear that the devil is at play here. Would greatly appreciate any advice you can provide.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r)

Dear Sharon:

Well, fear of religious objects, images, and Churches can be a sign of some sort of demonic problem. The fact that her mother does not attend Mass makes this a very difficult case, assuming demonic activity is taking place. Without the mother living a good Catholic life it can be nearly impossible to help the daughter. Out of love of her daughter she needs to repent and get right with God as her own lack of being in a State of Grace can faciliate her daughter being attacked.

One can only do so much directly. If people do not wish to be helped, or if they will not do what is necessary to protect themselves and to find healing and deliverance, then little can be done directly.

What can always be done is to pray for them. The prayer, Hedge Prayer for Return of Wayward Catholics, is what you should pray concerning your friend. A Hedge Prayer for Protection of Others can be prayed for your friend and her daughter. Perhaps the prayer, Proxy Deliverance Prayer for a Friend or Relative, for the little girl.

Even if the little girl is not demonized all these prayers are good.

The little girl, however, should be examined by a psychiatrist as she may not be demonized but suffering from some trauma, delusions, or some other psychiatric issue.

We will be in prayer for this mother and her daughter.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
