Question: My daughter and her roommate have been experiencing strange occurances in their college dorm. The position of items in their room has changed without explanation. One time, her roommate woke to a flash of light at the foot of her bed, and both girls sensed an evil presence. Another time, my daughter and a visiting friend simultaneously saw a large, dark shadow move across the room and shoot into a corner. One time my daughter told her roommate that she needed to go to Mass, and her roommate's expression changed, and she said, "Why?" in a defensive voice. Her roommate has no recollection of the incident. My daughter's roommate has turned away from her Catholic faith, but has been considering returning to it. Is it possible that the girls are experiencing some type of occult phenomenon? I told them to pray the St. Michael prayer, have their room blessed, try to live a holy life, and frequent the sacraments. Is there anything else they should do? Thanks for your help.
Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r) Dear Casie: Given the debauchery that goes on in college dorms, who knows what demonic attachments the room may have. The girls need to bless the dorm room. We have a House Cleansing and Blessing they can use. Since dorm rooms are only one room usually, it will be easy to do this blessing. They can do this blessing themselves, or you could lead it, or even I can lead it over the phone. Perhaps the prayer, Breaking Household Curses and Spells will also be helpful. The "Household" in this case is the dorm room. Also, I would recommend that both girls follow the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance, linked below, and to return to the Church. The Sacraments of the Church are the most powerful in warding off demons and for seeking healing. For you, the prayer, Hedge Prayer for Protection of Household, would be wise. Even though your daughter is in college she is still under your household. The girls could also pray this for themselves since being roomates creates a "household" for them. Look through the other prayers in the Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog and pray whatever you think fit your and the girls' situation. We will be in prayer for the girls and for you as you help them.
