Question:

Dear Brother,

I'm somewhat embarrassed about this, but feel that I really need help.

Since I was a kid, I've had a terrible fear of "troll dolls"!

My sister (half sister, same mother) use to scare me with them as a joke. She died in 1990, as the doll was very popular in the 60's but came back on the market in the early 90's. I'm not going to say that I'm glad my sister is deceased, but if she was alive; I know she would continue to torment me with these things!

Unfortunately my sister died of a drug overdose as she suffered with drug addiction, but she had a very wicked and evil nature about her and this was prior to her problems with drugs. As she also wanted to hurt someone physically or emotionally and was jealous of me as she wanted to be an only child and would often say nasty things about my Father; whom committed suicide.

Yesterday, unfortunately I was on a website page reading something and noticed a picture of one of them. I immediately clicked off the site, as my hand was trembling, I felt like I couldn't breathe, and my legs felt paralyzed whereas my Mother had to comfort and revive me until I stopped shaking. As if I see these things, I have this reaction and have actually felt as though I was going to pass out!

I heard other Pastors and individuals of religion speak about these things stating that they are demonic! As beside the fear I have of them; I've always felt something evil was within them.

If you could please give me some advice about this and if these things do have a demonic presence on them; I would really appreciate. However, please do not include any photos of these things, as I become panic ridden in seeing them.

Thank you Brother, I really appreciate your help.

God Bless,
Crystal

Question Answered by

Dear Crystal:

I am sorry that your sister abused you so. We will pray for her soul.

There is nothing inherently demonic about troll dolls. The original dolls, which were orginally called Leprechauns, were created in 1959 by a Danish man, Thomas Dam, for his daughter because he could not afford a Christmas gift. The dolls quickly became popular in Europe and then in the United States.

The dolls were not images of any existing doll or design. The dolls are the product of Mr. Dam's imagination. This had nothing to do with occultism or anything demonic.

The experience you are describing was child abuse on the part of your sister which tramatized you. Your reaction to the doll, as you describe it, could be PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) or some other anxiety reaction. I would advise seeing a counselor who can help you sort out these issues.

As for a demonic element, unless there are other phenomena taking place, I would not worry about anything demonic.

The best choice for you, I think, is to seek counseling so you can talk and sort out your feelings about your sister and the nature of your reactions to the doll.

We will be praying for you.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
