Advice about my Grandfather	Eric	Wednesday, October 6, 2004
Question: Dear Brother John-Paul Ignatius, Hello and God bless you. I considered posting this question on the BBS but decided that it may be too personal to be read by all. The situation is as follows: My grandfather ( the same one who initally gave me a solid foundation in our Faith) was, at one time, deeply involved in the Occult. He used to hold "ceremonies" in his basement,in which there was a white painted pentagram in the center. During that time he was very succesful in his life and things were going well for him personally and financially. Now I have found out that at one point, he and his group summoned a demon, for what end he will not tell me, and the summoning was succesful. Now apparently, some time after the demon was summoned, he became terrified by what he had done and/or the consequences it would have on his family should he decide to "forsake" satan. Eventually he did leave the occult and came back itno the Church. And he did so with great zeal. He did anything and everything he could for his parish and his priest. He and my grandmother even won a trip to the Vatican and visited with the Pope. However, in time, he slowly fell away from the Faith even though, as he says, he knows better. Now he is desperate. He is very sick and has sever emotional problems and the family has fallen apart, just as the demon told him it would. I have worked and prayed for him to keep his hope up and seek help. He has a degree in Psychology so he is adequatly versed in mental conditions. There is much more to the story but in a nut shell,he and I have concluded that he may have some type of lingering demonic oppresion and in my humble opinon he may be actually possesed by a demon(s). I asked him to contact a Priest to get help, he told me that he has seriously tried to do so but "absolutly can not" He feels that his prayers are not heard and that the problems my family have are a direct result of his past actions.He has tried all prayers and nothing works.Please help

This is the Catholic Q&A in which all 200,000,000 people on the Internet can read. This is not a private forum. At any rate, everyone can benefit from your question. The reason that things may not be working for him is that the devil's hooks into him may be too deep for him to deal with by himself. He needs to contact a deliverance counselor. You need to pray for him that he will ask for help. Unless he comes forward himself to ask for help little can be done directly. Thus intensify your prayers that not only will God cast away any demons, but also the prayer about breaking curses and the one about Hedge prayer for a wayward person, (all found in the SW Prayer Catalog), and that he will decide to ask for help.
