Spiritual Warfare Storyline framed as a comedy? Eric Friday, September 23, 2011

Question:

Although there is nothing funny about oppression and possession. Would it be improper to bring the problem of dabbling in the occult and things that can happen when you do in the form of a comedy? Only after the character realizes his error and turns to Christ would his problems be resolved by the Grace of God. Do you think this would be wrong to handle such a real and serious subject matter in such a way that an audience could laugh even if there is a serious and important message in the storyline? Thanks for your opinion on this.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r)

Dear Eric:

It is possible that some form of comedy might be used instructively concerning spiritual warfare, but you'll have to be very careful. There should be no hint whatsoever that dabbling in the occult is a good thing, is attractive, or that the comedy trivializes the dangers.

The media of the comedic skit can be very effective if done properly.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
