Question: Brother I would first like to thank you for this ministry. I've been reading this forum for a few years and have found your answers helpful as well as truthful. I'm a revert to the Church and I have not had this experience for the past 3 years since coming back. I woke up this morning and watched a half hour of EWTN, then I did the Liturgy of the Hours for 6 a.m., I prayed the Lorica of St. Patrick and then the morning offering. I usually get up and start my day, but I decided to go back to sleep since I'm on vacation. Then before I went to sleep I started hearing a whooshing sound. I begin to see my ceiling turn into a dome where I see an outline of a lion and a lioness. I need eyeglasses so it's unusual that I could see this that far above me. I'm being pulled up away from my body, unlike my previous experiences I started praying just saying Jesus' name and asking him to stay with me. Then I'm aware of my body but I see an old high school friend that I haven't seen in 20 years. I hug her, look into her face and think to myself how much she has suffered (personally I don't know anything about her). Then I kiss her cheek with a lot of christian love and I'm swooped back to my room but I was still struggling to get control of my body. I forced my arm to make the sign of the cross and I started heading back I guess to my body but just like a roller coaster I'm swooped up again. I'm still in my room. So I called out to Our Lady and said a Hail Mary. Then I slowly gain control of my body. Almost like a landing an airplane. Since I had recognized this experience I was not frightened like I used to be. I thanked Our Lord and Our Lady and finally went to sleep. I have never told anyone about any of my experiences except for my husband. It used to frighten me as a child and before coming into the church. Since I haven't had an episode since coming back I thought it might have stopped as a gift from God. This episode was different in that I remembered to pray throughout this particular episode and I was not frightened. Brother, have you heard of anything like this? I would love to hear your thoughts. God Bless you and thank you again. |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r)
Dear Sally: Thank you for your kind words. I praise God that our Q&A has been helpful to you. Well, most dreams are the brain's creative way to process the anxieties, fears, joys, troubles, stresses, and experiences of the day. Some people get into dream interpretation, but that can be problematic. If this is a demonic attack, your prayers are the right thing to do. We have a Bedtime Prayer of Protection in our Spiritual Warfare Catalog linked below. Other prayers, such as the Hedge Prayer of Protection (one for self, and one for household) are also good prayer for anyone to pray. If there is no accompanied paranormal experiences taking place around this dream, or you do not have this dream very often, then there is probably nothing to worry about. The prayers you are already saying, plus the prayers I mentioned above, should suffice. God Bless, For information on how to receive help see our Help page. We suggest that before contacting us directly for help you try the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance. These self-help steps will often resolve the problem. Also our Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog contains many prayers that may be helpful. If needed you can ask for a Personal Consultation.
