Acedia - Check for Thyroid Type 2 and Antibodies | Catherine | Friday, December 31, 2010 |
Question: I struggled with the same symptoms as Amanda for 20 years, losing my career and my marriage, to be finally diagnosed last year with Hashimoto's Throiditis. Doctors had previously ruled out my having a thyroid issue because they stopped their invistigations at the TSH test, which gives a false negative in ppl with Hashimoto's (autoimmunity) and Type 2 hypothyroidism (thyroid hormone resistence.) I was branded as depressed (with no depressed mood, just worried and frustrated at being so sick) and told all my physical symptoms must be 'somatic', i.e. imaginary. |

Dear Catherine: Thank you for sharing your situation and the medical information. This information may help many thousands of people who read these Q&As. It is true that doctors do not know it all. Many are uniformed of many things. I have been a victim myself of a doctor who did not make the referrals she should to prevent a reoccurrence of a very nasty infection in my leg. The infection was cured after 10 days in the hospital, but it came back only five months later because the underlying problem was not resolved. These infections run the major risk of a MRSA infection, which could cause the need to amputate my leg. The second doctor knew what to do to prevent this from happening again -- referral to a lymphadema therapist. I have not had a reoccurrence of the infection since. Doctors are not god (even if they think they are). They do not know everything there is to know. They are human with all human foibles, prejudices, presumptions, careless attention, and even laziness, etc. We do indeed need to be informed and proactive about our own medical care and insist upon things when necessary. We cannot be passive. The devil can certainly piggyback upon these problems. Such medical conditions make us weak and vulnerable. While spiritual warfare prayer may get rid of the demonic harassment, the underlying medical (or psychiatric) condition will remain and need to be dealt with by a medical or psychiatric professional. Thanks for sharing. God Bless, For information on how to receive help see our Help page. We suggest that before contacting us directly for help you try the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance.
