Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r)
Dear Angel: I praise God that you are coming into the Church. You will never regret it to be in our Lord's Church and Kingdom. The priest is correct that the devil is not pleased about your coming baptism. He is also correct that you may continue to be harassed, including depression and doubts, to prevent you from going through with the Baptism. You must persevere, a better life does await. In the meantime I would suggest that you follow the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance linked below not only as a means to counter the harassments, but as preparation for your baptism. You cannot participate in the Sacraments at this time, but you can do everything else. We also have a Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog, also linked below. I would recommend you pray the Hedge Prayer of Protection and any other prayers that are useful to you. There is also a Rebuking Particular Spirits prayer. You can rebuke evil spirits referring to them by their attributes, such as the spirit of doppelganger, spirit in my home, spirit of fear, spirit of lust, spirit of anger, etc. You will see what I mean when you look at the prayer. Baptism does contain a simple exorcism. Hopefully, that will end this present harassment, but if it does not, then these prayers I mentioned and the Seven Step should still be practiced, and if necessary, when we have an opening you can request formal Deliverance Counseling. Remember, as a catechumen, you come under the protection of the Church, even though you are not yet baptized. Avail yourself of the Church's treasures, such as devotion of the saints. St. Dymphna is a saint I would recommend as she is the Patron for those with spiritual afflictions. All things in the Church, except the Sacraments, are available to you before you are baptized. We will be praying for you. Hang in there. God Bless, For information on how to receive help see our Help page. We suggest that before contacting us directly for help you try the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance. These self-help steps will often resolve the problem. Also our Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog contains many prayers that may be helpful. If needed you can ask for a Personal Consultation.
