sensitive to evil spirits | Lee | Thursday, September 16, 2010 |
Question: Please answer my question, as to why I am sensitive to evil spirits? I have been told by a Healing Priest that I am and if I pray over people not to touch them. I have been harrassed over the years by different spirits. Recently I approached a homeless person to give them some money, and immediately after leaving I felt the evil very strongly. This time there was no physical contact. But I felt deep compassion for the person. I am a practicing catholic, who loves the church, and am trying hard to please Jesus and live my faith. It makes me feel like there is something wrong with me. Please answer. |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r)
Dear Lee: It is rare for someone to be a legitimate "sensitive", but they do exist. This phenomena is a remnant of preternatural abilities that all humans possessed before the Fall of Adam and Eve. Obviously I do not know you so I cannot really be definitive here, but it is more likely that you may have the charism Gift of Discernment. This spiritual gift is not preternatural, as it goes beyond any natural abilities of any kind. It is a supernatural ability to discern spirits. A gift of God will give you peace. Any gift from God will be for a purpose. Our goal is to discover our gifts and how to use them. If this experience is bothering you, then ask God to take the ability away. God does not force himself on people. Thus, if you ask, He will not force you to keep the ability. If the ability does not go away, then the issue may be sourced elsewhere. I would advise that you undergo the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance linked below. And also pray the Rebuking Particular Spirits found in the Spiritual Warfare Catalog also linked below. The spirit you want to rebuke is the "spirit of this sensitivity" and replace it with the "Spirit of Divine Sensitivity. If there is a demonic element, and I am not saying there is, but if there is, hopefully these tasks will remove it. If there is no demonic element, then the prayer will be credited to you by God as a grace. St. Paul tells us that we are to test our experiences all things to be sure they are of God (1 Thessalonians 5:21) and St. John tells us to test the spirits to be sure they are of God (1 John 4:1). The advice of the Seven Steps and the Rebuking Prayer are two ways to test to see if your experiences are from God. But, do not presume this ability is from God. Ask Him. If after all this you find that this ability is not from God, or you are not sure, then renounce the ability. That is the ultimate test since God will not force you to keep the ability. If you find that this ability is from God then you must find ways to use it for His glory. For example, that homeless man. That you discerned something with the man, God may be calling you to pray for him. This ability, if genuine, can be used to discern when people are in spiritual difficulties, which gives you the opportunity to pray for them. Do not, however, try to perform a deliverance on anyone, since you are not trained to do that. We will be praying for you and that you will discover what God's will is for you. God Bless, For information on how to receive help see our Help page. We suggest that before contacting us directly for help you try the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance. These self-help steps will often resolve the problem. Also our Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog contains many prayers that may be helpful. If needed you can ask for a Personal Consultation.
