Dear Father,

I was invited to a friend's/acquaintance’s house for a small party where we were able to order house gifts. Once the party was over, it was just a few of us in this particular house who decided to stay for a bit. My friends started to talk about the occult. The person who lived there said that the house had many bizarre things going on throughout it (e.g., items of the house would be left outside; a bedroom would have things misplaced throughout it and other creepy stuff). These people (the person living in the house and the other person/friend) each reported having a long history of both first witnessing and later pursuing paranormal activity.

Before entering this house, I had no knowledge that these people were into this stuff, nor did I know that the person living in this house may have had that stuff going on inside o it. Upon entering the house, I did have a gut feeling that something was strange about it because it was dirty. A couple of times while we were sitting down while they were talking about the occult, we heard two loud noises that occurred (not at the same time) but the sound seemed like it was close to us without what appeared to be an explanation. One of the people that were there mentioned being a psychic. I have absolutely no interest in psychics. I told them that I was getting scared once I figured out what was going on. Once they started talking about the stuff again, I told them that I had to leave and so I did.

Now I am very turned off by these two people that I have known on more of a professional level and mostly in a professional environment for two years.


I have always tried to be a devoted Catholic, and I would like your guidance on how I can protect myself from what I may have been exposed to. Sometimes I think about what I was exposed to and I am still a little scared of the things they were saying about their occult.

I have learned my lesson and will no longer go to houses/places unless I really know what those people are like and also, I will leave a lot quicker if I should be exposed to those types of topics again.

Questions:

Should I discontinue talking to these people (I kind of really feel like I should not keep those types of people who are highly interested in paranormal activity in my life).

Also, what can I do to protect myself from anything that I may have been exposed to in that house?
