Bad advice about breaking a curse? | Lena | Friday, June 25, 2010 |
Question: My father has been extremely ill for 3 years. My mother, a very devout Catholic, approached a charasmatic, evangalist healer for help. This woman met my father and fell into a trance during which she came up with my father's brothers name. There was a lot of anger, ill will and bad feeling between my father and his brother over property about 30 years ago. It was resolved though they are still not close. |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Lena: Your mother should run, not walk, far away from these lunes who go into trances. This is not how God works. This is not how Spiritual gifts work. Such charismatic practices as you describe are nothing more than a "Christian" version of a medium. It is grave sin to practice mediumship or to seek out a medium. Your mother needs to renounce her seeking out this person. She, instead, needs to trust in God and abandon herself to God and His will. That is the reason why divination (mediumship) is a grave sin as it is a violation of the First Commandment to worship and trust God alone. Since the information about a curse came from this lune, I would take it with a grain of salt. The medium's suggestion of how to break the curse is nonsense. There is no problem with praying to break any curses that may be present if we suspect one has been cast. In this day and age, perhaps we all should periodically pray to break curses since people of ill-will may try to do such things as revenge against us. In our Spiritual Warfare Prayer catalog, we have a Breaking Personal Curses and Spells and Breaking Household Curses and Spells. Two things that people need to understand about curses and spells is... 1) as discussed by Father Amorth, exorcist of Rome, most of the time the negative consequences of a curse or a spell usually comes back on the person casting the curse or spell. 2) God is more powerful than any curse or spell and God does not ignore our prayers for deliverance. Concerning the situation your parents are in, we will certainly pray for your father's health, and for your mother. I would advise your parents, and all readers, who are in tough life situations to read our brochure, Christian Resignation. God Bless, For information on how to receive help see our Help page. We suggest that before contacting us directly for help you try the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance. These self-help steps will often resolve the problem. Also our Spiritual Warfare Prayer Catalog contains many prayers that may be helpful. If needed you can ask for a Personal Consultation.
