Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Gola: An immediate red flag is raised if Fr. Keating is involved. He is one of the two major promoters of Centering Prayer. There are also people on the Board are into Rolf and Yoga, Buddhism, I haven't the time to read through their 300+ page FAQ, but in glancing through the material it is clear that this organization is not Catholic, but multi-cultural, multi-faith, multi-tradition in its approach. Given that, the likelihood that its teachings will be fully consistent with Catholic teaching, tradition, and worldview is, in my opinion, about non-existent. In addition, much of what I read, keeping in mind I only glanced over the material, sounds about the same as "Centering Prayer." There is no indication at all that this organization and its teaching have any approbation from the Church despite a few bishops who are "patrons". It is recommended that people who are interested in Meditation be sure to read the Vatican document, On Some Aspects of Christian Meditation. Personally, I would not involve myself with this organization or its teachings. God Bless,
