Re:Reform Wiccan called to ministry, Demonic heresy... | Adam | Monday, February 1, 2010 |
Question: Bro. Ignatius, thank you for your forewarning. My fiancee' and I had been together outside of marriage, but we stopped that awhile back and decided to wait until after marriage, even before this started. I also attend church weekly, and study the scripture daily. I'd never heard of spiritual warfare until I was discussing the situation with an older friend who is well versed in the scripture. Oddly enough, I felt before hand what this was/is. Through much prayer and pennance I pray that my choosing Christ before all may lead my family to the cross. Some of them are devout Christians, some pagan, some atheist. I have no doubt that some will reject me as a child of Christ, especially seeing how my mama has already shown that my choices anger her when I try to talk to her about it. She's wiccan. This rejection I fear will be the hardest obstacle to overcome, because I fear that there's more to come. |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Adam: I am glad to hear that you are doing your best to live a good Christian life. As mentioned before, given your background, the devil will likely make it hard on you. He doesn't want to lose you. Of course, the devil has already lost you, but that doesn't keep him from trying. One the central tenets of the Christian life is perseverance. Notice that in the middle of the word is the word "severe". You must persevere in the faith. With family members it can be really difficult, but remember God gave them Free Will, too. God will not force them to himself. Through your prayers He will try to lead them to the Truth, but in the end it will be the family member's personal choice. That does not mean you should stop praying. Never stop praying for them. Who knows, perhaps decades from now some of them will come to God. It happens. Persevere with them. Jesus said that because of Him families will have tension and be at each other's neck:
If you are rejected, you are rejected because of Christ. This is actually an opportunity to join your suffering with Christ in prayer for your family. Offering our suffering up to God and our Blessed Mother for the salvation of others is one of the most powerful prayers. Thus, although I know it is hard, rather than fear, try to think of any rejection has an opportunity to apply even greater prayers for the family member's salvation. We will be praying for you and your whole family. God Bless, For information on how to receive help see our Help page.
