Question:

Dear Bro,

I was at a RCIA session recently and I saw an elect manifesting on two occasions. First on when he was requested to sign the rite of elect and the other was when the preacher prayed for an in-filling of the Holy Spirit. He started to make loud noises, he seem to be struggling with smth within him and he started to roll on the floor. Eventually he stopped. He cldnt utter "Jesus is Lord" at all even though he tried.

My questions are as follows:

1) Isn't God in control when we lift up such a session to Him?

2) What can we do to immediately stop the person from manifesting when he starts to manifest? Bind the spirits?

3) He cldnt even utter that Jesus is Lord when asked to. He tried but failed. A sign of possession?

Thank you.

We are having RCIA next fri. I hope you could reply me by then. Your help is much appreciated.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Nivlem:

From your description it appears that the person may be possessed. The priest at your parish should contact the diocese to investigate whether or not this person is possessed.

If the man manifests during the meeting, the priest should immediately pray over him and command the demon to stop. The other people in the meeting ought not try to deal with the manifestation. But, this needs to be referred to someone in the diocese who has experience with demonization.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
