Question: MY wife and I need money. I have been employed in the mortgage banking business for sometime. Currently I am unemployed, partially because we keep getting relocated. My wife is fairly high up in a very well known bank; the bank is on the tv news currentl. I've been offered an opportunity by a "head-hunter" to work for an extremely well-paid position. If I'm sly I can probably get away with passing myself off as the person this position needs. The catch is I've never performed in this capacity. The headhunter (who is also a personal friend of the family, so to speak) would definitely get me this job if I consent to work hard (which I love to do) and be "circumspect" about my qualifications. There is no credentialing, technically speaking, that currently exists. Is this wrong? Thanks!! PS I used to belong to this forum many moons ago (the legion of st. mike) |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Amadeus: Your question reminds me of an old story. I will answer your question with this story: A man, who had a criminal record, applied for job after job after job. He was never even asked for an interview. Because he was a Christian and believed in honesty, he told the truth on his job applications when it asked, "Have you been convicted of a felony?" After about a year of this things were getting desperate. His kids needed cloths and shoes for school, there was food to put on the table. In frustration, the next job application he filled out he gave in and lied about the felony conviction. He got the job right away. What he did not know, but God knew, is that if he told the truth and was rejected for the job, and went to the business next door, he would have gotten that job at $60,000 per year instead of the $10/hour job he got. What God knew, is that the employer next door made a point of hiring ex-cons. The man missed out on a good career, and instead had a low-level job, because he gave in and lied on this application. Always keep the higher road. Trust in God. Read Matthew 5:25-34 God Bless,
