Isn't suicide highly involved with demons? Mary Tuesday, September 22, 2009

Question:

Hi Brother,

I was just curious why you did not mention the demons of suicide and depression to the girl who was suicidal and asking advice. I could be wrong, and certainly don't have all the knowledge you have, but I just found it odd that you would only tell her to listen to her doctor and not to pray hard too...is that because the state she is in she cannot battle for herself? I was just curious about the reasoning behind this. Or perhaps I am misinformed that there are demons of suicide and depression? Please help my understanding of the line between pscyhology and spiritual warfare. Thanks!

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Mary:

Demons most often are hitchhikers and not the cause of problems. Indeed, suicide is a favorite of the devil for it destroys the God's child.

In the case of Marcella the major problem was major depression. This is a brain disorder. The most important thing for her to do at the moment is to follow her doctor's advice and prescriptions, see a counselor, and to pray. That is what I advised her to do.

If there is a demonic element, which we do not know that there is, it cannot be dealt with until and unless the other three elements (doctor, counselor, prayer) are accomplished and maintained.

In deliverance counseling we cannot accept a client unless they are able to productively participate in the counseling process. Mental or emotional problems that prevent productive participation disqualify a person from deliverance counseling until those problems can be mediated.

In addition, deliverance from any demons who may be present around her can be done without her involvments. You and I and anyone can pray that she be freed from any demons who are around her and those prayers can be effectual.

Finally, she was basically asking if it was okay to kill herself; she did not want to go to hell. I answered with that fact in mind.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
