Question: Thank you for your website! It has already been a blessing to me in so many ways! I would like to recount something that happened to me while in college. My cousin and I were accustomed to praying the Rosary together in the evening. One night, we were not together, so I decided to pray the Rosary on my own, joining to the Rosary that I knew she was also praying. I did this while lying in bed in the dark. All of a sudden, I felt a presence behind me. I slowing turned around to see a huge shadow - maybe 3-4 feet wide. I was not really afraid. I looked for a moment and turned back around and finished my prayers. I have always wondered how I could see a shadow in the dark unless there were a light that I could not see. The next day, my cousin told me that while she was praying the Rosary, she could hear somebody praying with her. She did not know what to make of it and finished the Rosary. I told her of my experience, and we were both amazed. What do you make of this?

The devil hates our Blessed Mother more than any other person, except for God Himself. Thus, praying the rosary, or any other Marian devotions, is of particular pain to him. Thus, the presence and shadow you experienced may have been a demonic attempt to scare you. Three diminsional shadows, and shadows "in the dark" are common ways demons make their presence known. As for your cousin, God may have allowed her to hear your praying. Perhaps, this special grace is what lead to the demon trying to distract you. God Bless, Bro.
