Question Answered by Mr. Joe Meineke
Dear Thomas, There is nowhere in scripture that I know of where Jesus tells his children to hunt demons. Perhaps if you could provide the scripture passage you are referring to, I can help clarify it. Scripture certainly teaches us to "resist the devil and he will flee from you" (James 4:7) and that we are to "be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour" (1 Peter 5:8). We also ask God to "deliver us from evil" in the Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:13), but we don't "hunt" demons. Yes we are sometimes called to direct spiritual warfare when we, or others, are attacked, and we should also be prepared for battle when needed. Those who are "cowboys", however, who wish to "kick some demon butt," not only put themselves in danger, but also those around them. No commander in war wants a "cowboy" in his platoon because such a person can get himself, and others, killed. God bless you,
