Question:

What are the ramifications of the ideas in the "renewal of the renewal" and "the spirit of the liturgy" as spoken of by Pope Benedict XVI and how do you see them affecting the Catholic life in the years ahead?

Question Answered by Mr. Jacob Slavek

Dear Chei,

I'm sorry I can't answer your question because I have not read then-Joseph Ratzinger's book.

However after reading a few reviews online I have found it to be a must-read for anyone involved in Liturgy, and I will be getting a copy shortly.

Speaking generically about Cardinal Ratzinger/Benedict XVI I am proud of his views on Liturgy and believe that they will only help the church grow in the future.  He seems to prefer a more sacred style of worship, and since the style is "set apart" from anything else that we see in the secular world, it will help with our mission of evangelization because non-Christians will see things in the Catholic Church on a weekly basis that they will not see anywhere else.  Hopefully sacred worship will stick in people's minds and draw them back into the church rather than being bland and forgotten about among the jumble of other stuff that goes on in our lives.

Mr. Slavek
