Question: I want to know (this is an odd question, please for give me) , If someone is on food stamps and one of the household leaves and its at the end of the month by the way, Is it a sin if the person does not report the change until after the first of the month? Legally they have ten days to report before it is a crime, and after the firs t would be way before the ten days are up. Or is this too scrupulous? |

Question Answered by Mr. Jacob Slavek
Dear Mary, Yes this is an odd question for a Liturgy forum: that's okay, things have been a little slow here lately. I know nothing about the food stamp program, but based only on what you have said in your question, I don't see a moral obligation to report the change before the first of the month. Whoever it was who came up with the ten day rule knew what he was doing.. and therefore knew that in many cases the ten days would include a month change. They gave you ten days to report, use them all if you want, at least in my personal opinion. Mr. Slavek Footer Notes: (a) A Eucharistic Minister is clergy (Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion). Laity are Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion and should never be called Eucharistic Ministers. (b) There is no such Mass called the Novus Ordo. The Current Mass is the Roman Missal of 2000, or the Oridinary Form of the Mass. The Tridentine Mass is the Roman Missal of 1962, or the Extraordinary Form of the Mass. Please refrain from using the term, Novus Ordo. Thanks. (c) The titles of Acolyte and Lector belong exclusively to the Installed Offices of Acolyte and Lector, who are men (only) appointed by the Bishop. These roles performed by others are Altar Servers and Readers, respectively. |
