Blessed salt Pamela Friday, April 8, 2005

Question:

Is there a special type of salt that is required for blessed salt? A specific prayer?

Question Answered by Mr. Jacob Slavek

Dear Pamela,

No, there is not a specific type of salt that is required for blessed salt.  Yes, there still is a liturgical prayer for the blessing of salt, however salt really isn't blessed as much as it traditionally was.  You can use blessed salt as a sacramental if you'd like, see your pastor, he should be able to help you.

Mr. Slavek
