Question:

Dear Bro,

In a SECULAR society such as the US, Britian or Australia should legal status be given to gay couples affording them legal rights to their relationship? Not necessarily calling it 'marriage' per se but some kind of civil union?

Thanks.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Michael:

ALL marriages should be "gay". The word "gay" means "joyous", not homosexual

It is patently improper for even secular society to grant any sort of legal status of marriage or its equivalent to homosexuals.

Homosexuality is a disorder and homosexual sex is a violation of natural law. The first measure of law is based upon Natural Law. Such a law giving homosexuals these legal rights would not only be contrary to God's law, and natural law, but contrary to classic legal principle.

To have such a legal status would be to endorse, support, and establish a perversion (as defined in moral theology and in natural law).

Resistance to this trend in law should be resisted vigorously.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
