Question: we have second class relics of saint bernadette (the one at lourdes) and of blesseds Francesco and Jacinta in our parish. can i make a third class relic by touching, say my scapular to their reliquaries? thank you |

Dear Joshua: No, that will not be possible. To create a third class relic it must be touched to a first class relic (not to the reliquary, but to the relic itself). Some suggest a possibility of a 4th class relic. A 4th Class relic is created when touched to a 2nd Class relic, but again this must be touched to the 2nd class relic itself not to the reliquary.
