Catholic tracts | Trevor | Thursday, February 14, 2008 |
Question: How are you today, Brother Ignatius Mary? Is it proper for Catholics to distribute tracts, like you see Evangelicals or other Christians doing? I have never seen a Catholic tract. For an example of a Catholic tract, it could be a picture of St. Michael with the prayer to St. Michael on the one side, and on the other side it could be some various passages from Scripture on say, spiritual warfare awareness. I would like to include: Eph.6 11-12, 1 Cor 6: 9-10 and John 8: 31-32. I feel like I have been called to do this. I am not one to stand on a street corner and pass them out, although I would. My thoughts are more about leaving them in places such as waiting rooms or restrooms or librarys, etc., where people have time to read them and maybe actually think about what is on them. Before I proceed, is this something that our Catholic faith would look favourably upon? Thanks. |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Trevor: It is a great idea to distribute tracts in waiting rooms, restrooms, in books in a library, etc. This is a wonderful idea. I use to do this when I was a Baptist. There are many Catholic tracts (pamphlets) put out my various Catholic religious orders and apostolates. In addition to pamphlets are Holy Cards that you could distribute. You can also create your own. Just be sure to have a telephone number or website of where the person can go if they are interested in learning more about the Church. If you check Catholic bookstores, Catholic Religious Goods stores, and also check with apostolates like Catholic Answers, you can probably find a collection of pamphlets to distribute. Great idea. Go for it. God Bless, Footer Notes: This forum is for general questions on the faith. See specific Topic Forums below: Spiritual Warfare, demons, the occult go to our Spiritul Warfare Q&S Forum.
