Baptized Catholic as child, no instuction, now Baptist as adult	MaryAnne	Friday, January 25, 2008
Question: I was batized in the Catholic Church as an infant. Then only attened Church with parent as a small child. No Catholic teachings growing up. As an adult I joined the Baptist Church. Now I find myself longing for the faith of my roots. Is it possible to become a Catholic under these circumstances? I went back to my home Church as an adult and the Priest treated me like I had a diease. I noticed he treated one other lady with this same distain. Puzzled by his attitude toward only a few people he did not even know. My heart longs for the Catholic Church but fear from this Preist reaction to my presence is holding me back. Thank You,
Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM Dear MaryAnne: The Catholic Church will welcome you back with open arms. I praise God that you are wanting to come back to the Catholic Church. The Church welcomes you. Remember, however, that a rude priest is NOT the Church. The Church is a big family and like all families there are members who are great and members you don't want to be around. Some family members are a delight, other family members are rude and nasty. That is family. The priest you mentioned may not be the one to teach the RCIA class and thus you may not have to be around him much. Do not let his rudeness deter you from God's Church. Of course, you do not have to return to the Church in that parish either. You can go to another parish if you wish. Either way, no matter what, please do not avoid returning to the Church on account of one rude priest. Put up with him like you might do with a rude uncle on Thanksgiving or Christmas family reunions, or find another parish, but do not refrain from returning. Find a way.
