about confession..am i being scrupulous? | jose | Tuesday, January 22, 2008 |
Question: i confessed to a priest about having impure thoughts but i did not mention any other details (some thoughts are homosexual).. i thought that an impure thought is an impure thought.. so was my confession invalid? i was also "interrogated" by the priest about my other sins of impurity...but he never asked me more about these thoughts... but i don't know if it is sufficient to say "impure thoughts" only... |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Jose: The Church requires that we confess our sins in kind and number. It is not necessary to go into details unless the priest asks you. Do what your conscience tells you. If you feel you need to go into more detail about your thoughts, then do so. You can always ask your confessor about this to be sure.
