Question: i don't know if i'm being scrupulous, bro. ignatius. it's just that whenever i sleep at night, i dream of impure dreams....and when i am half-awake, i think i also may have thought of impure things... when i wake up, i am thankful that all my dreams (which i would rather call nightmares) are only dreams becase i really am struggling to live purely... however, after i am fully awake and remember my dreams (from sleep or when i'm half-awake), i feel that i should confess...but then again i will think that God knows that i cannot fully control my dreams and my thoughts (specially when i am not fully conscious) what do you think i should do? |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Mike: There is no sin in dreams. We have no control over our dreams. We are also not responsible for our thoughts in the "half-awake" state; we have no control over that either. We cannot be held responsible for that which we have no control. If you are struggling to live purely that is probably the reason for the dreams. It will likely pass in time. If you wish you might add a bedtime prayer:
