Discipline on the Tridentine Mass | joseph | Monday, January 7, 2008 |
Question: is it possible in the future that a pope will write his motu proprio and limit the use of Tridentine Mass again? thanks in advance |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Joseph: The use of the Tridentine Mass is solely at the discretion of the Pope. He may give unrestricted permission, restricted permission, or take it away completely at any time. Church law states that the current Roman Missal is the normative Missal and the only one that may be used in the Latin Rite unless the Pope gives an indult* otherwise.
The Pope has given an indult for the Tridentine Mass, but that may be rescinded anytime he wishes. God Bless, Footer Notes: This forum is for general questions on the faith.
