Question Title Posted By Question Date
Scrupulosity concerning Eucharist Matthew Friday, November 9, 2007

Question:

Brother Ignatius,

I assume this is being scrupulous but i'm going to ask it anyway. I received the Eucharist today at noon Mass during my lunch break from work. I received it about 12:45 and around 1:00 i ate some string beans, some of them were real tough so i had to spit them out. Was there still species of Christ still mixed in with my saliva? Should i be worried? Thanks Brother.

Matt

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Matthew:

The consumed Eucharist remains with us for about fifteen minutes. By the time we are dismissed from Mass we are free to eat something (e.g. after Mass donuts).

You have nothing to worry about.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
