Question:

Thanks for the recent info on Mike Brown's SpiritDaily site. I've been reading it for a while and while I find some of his stuff interesting, some of it regarding the end times just sounded kinda odd.

1 of the articles that I came across on Spiritdaily was about being content at what you're doing, ie if you were ment to be a janitor then be a good janitor. Well I am in the process of discerning what to do next in life and that article made me question if I should stay where I'm at or continue looking.

Exactly who is Michael Brown. should I quit reading his site?

Thanks
-Tim

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Tim:

Michael Brown is okay. If one must interest themselves in Private Revelations and prophecies and the like, Brown is probably one of the better people to read. This is just my personal bent that I have little interest in private revelations and even less interest in private prophecies of the end times. I think that often these things only serve to frighten people instead of inspire them to live the faith TODAY. In my opinion, all that we really need to know about end times is found in the Bible and Sacred Tradition, not in private revelations.

Besides, Jesus said in Matthew 6:34: "Don't worry about tomorrow. It will take care of itself. You have enough to worry about today."

As for your vocation, if you are discerning what to do next in life, continue your discernment.

The idea that if we were meant to be a janitor then be a good janitor does not mean that you must stay put where you are at. It means do a good job where you are at. In each job that you do, do it well.

If God calls you to be a janitor as a live-long vocation, then accept that. If God is calling you elsewhere then pursue that and when you find your calling, accept it and do it well.

Continue your discernment and go where you believe God is calling you.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
