Question:

Hello long time reader, first time poster. Just wanted to say hope your leg feels better. Also you seem to be geting alot of anti- religiouse/ Catholic posts lately. Seems you have alot of readers who hate you and the Church. Why do they read if they hate us then post rants and non sense? Perhaps they sense truth and dont want to admit it.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Graham:

There is an old saying, "when the cat is away, the mice will play."

It was rather odd that I received so many hate "questions" while I was in the hospital, meaning that I had to deal with them once discharged from the hospital but still weak. But that is the way the devil works.

I get hate mail, nasty notes in the guestbook on our site, and nasty Q&A's all the time. Because of the evil people out there we had to go to an "on approval" system for the guestbook and prayerbook. People can REALLY get vulgar and blasphemous.

This past couple weeks we have received an unusual number of hate Q&As, some were so vulgar and blasphemous that I could barely read them (and I have seen about everything there is to see and heard about everything there is to hear).

Rarely do I publish these hateful and blasphemous "questions".

I always wonder why these people bother to post their hate. I mean, this website is CLEARLY Catholic. If they hate Catholics so much, why spend time reading this site.

But hate has its own agenda. Hate will spend great amounts of energy to research that which they hate. Their purpose is to find "the scoop" on the object of their hate in order to justify their hate.

God has placed the basic knowledge of good and evil in the hearts of all human beings. Thus, these people know, deep down, their hate is disordered. In addition, medical research has shown that hate actually causes physical and medical problems, and can be addictive (with brain chemicals in the brain). Hate, in essence, when sustained, becomes a mental disorder and even a physical illness.

Within this background there is a desperate need on the part of hateful people to sustain their "addiction" and to justify their hate. Thus, they come onto website like this one to find "fuel" for their hate.

But, hate is not complete unless it is expressed. So, I become the object of their hate.

You can't see this, but I have a tattoo on my behind that is a HUGE target :)

Some might suggest that everyone can have whatever opinion they desire but let others have the same privilege. If one does not like being around an opinion, then go elsewhere.

But evil does not work that way. Evil cannot tolerate even a tiny pinpoint of light in the far corner. Any light at all, no matter how tiny, no matter how far in the corner it is, is a threat to evil.

This is why we need to take the light of Christ that is within us and place it on a stand for all to see, and not hide it under a basket, as Jesus tells us.

Each of us, with our personal tiny pinpoints of light, thwart the darkness. Together we are the Light of the World bringing the brilliance of Christ who is within us to dispel all the darkness.

Thus, the devil will try to blow out our candle at any opportunity. Living the Christian life is largely about preventing the devil from extinguishing our candle and offering our candle as a lighthouse for the lost.

Anyway, I think it has to do with these things as to why websites like this one, people like myself, and anyone who stands for the Truth of Christ find themselves under hateful attacks.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
