Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
This is not to Terra, but to our readership. I normally do not publish hate mail such as this one, but there is a teaching purpose that this particular hatemonger provides us. I have noticed over the years that devotees of any errant group, person, or activity tend to be extreme in their reactions to criticism of their beloved group, person, or activity. This extreme emotional reaction is not just in objection to the criticism but usually is a reaction of something far deeper and more reflective of the person's spritual state. As such they become vile, vitriolic, hateful and oftentimes vulgar and blasphemous. Just this week I rejected a "question" that blasphemed our Blessed Mother with vile vulgarity. While extreme and inappropriate reactions can take place among people of good will when their faith or favorite things are criticized, most do not go into such extremes. The consistency of these vitriolic reactions are such that whenever I see them I immediately suspect there is something deeply wrong with the group, person, or activity to which these people are defending. Sure enough, in almost all cases, the group, person, or activity being defended by these vitriolic people are errant, problematic, or outright evil in nature. This is not 100%, but it is close. Here are some of the topics that elicit this hateful reaction. Each topic is one that is errant, immoral, problematic, or evil: Malachi Martin These are some that come to mind at the moment; there are more. Each of the topics listed represent an errant and/or evil idea, person, or group. Such hateful responses when criticizing the world's viewpoint on topics like those above is to be expected. That is the way the world thinks. The world is hostile to Truth and to anything of God. Well, let 'em moan and groan and spew their hate. Truth is Truth is Truth and NOTHING will change that. I like the comment made by St. Francis deSales when he was talking about the way the world thinks. He concluded: "We are crucified to the world and the world must be crucified to us. The world holds us to be fools; let us hold it to be mad." God Bless,
