Question:

found a site called traditio .com the guy calls himself fr.moderator any way hes got some pics of a priest saying mass in iraq in the field in his bdus and says this is wrong and has never happen before. now ive seen pics of priests from ww2 saying mass useing the tops of jeeps, big rocks etc as a makeshift altar. my dad said in vietmam general absolution and mass was often offerd to men about to go into battle in the oddest places like on ammo crates etc. you can also find oter examples in history like in ireland during the penal times priests offering mass on mass rocks in secret.so where does this guy fr. moderator get off misleading people like this?

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Mike:

Well, "fr moderator" is wrong, as usual.

Battlefield Masses are said all the time and have been throughout history. It is permitted.

The traditio website is not recommended to anyone who is a loyal and obedient Catholic.

I might add that our community, the "Order of the Legion of St. Michael", and its associated organizations such as the "Fraternity of the Chaplet of St. Michael" and the "St. Michael Guild" are NOT IN ANY WAY affiliated with the traditio's Confraternity of St. Michael.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
