Question:

some friends of mine recently said that angelas ashes by frank mccort was considerd anti catholic, ive read the book and didnt get that sense from it at all. sure it mentioned some bad things priests or nuns said or did. but it also mentioned some very uplifting things about the church as well. in fact thats the book that began my conversion to the catholic church. because it showed the church as being holy despite being made up of sinful and sometimes stupid people. at least thats what i got from it.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear Kirk:

I have not read the book, but I have seen the movie. I remember the movie being good, but frankly do not remember it well enough to really comment.

If the book helped you realize that the Church is holy regardless of sinful members then that is a great thing.

Welcome to the Catholic Church.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
