Dear Derrick: A "Youth Group" is usually a group of teenagers. If she is 25 perhaps she is a leader in the youth group. It would be common for people around 25 to be leaders as they are still young, but fully adults, so as to supervise the youths. There are also groups that her church may have for young adults. The activities you describe sound a little "young" for a young adult group, but who knows. Since you have mentioned it, I must mention it. For a Catholic to involve themselves with a non-Catholic, especially a non-Catholic whose religious background is as distant as the Pentecostals are from Catholics, is a problem. Dating can lead to marriage, so even dating a non-catholic is risky, particularly since the only valid reason for dating is to look for a mate. Certainly should the couple marry, raising children in such a mixed marriage is a real problem. It is difficult enough to raise children in the Faith without having parents from two different faith traditions that do not always agree. Should such a mixed couple want to get married, the Catholic partner must secure the permission of the bishop, both parties must attend pre-cana counseling, the couple must have a Catholic wedding (though the Protestant minister may say a few words). The wedding must take place in a Catholic Church (unless permission from the bishop is given to hold the wedding elsewhere), the Catholic partner must give assurances that he or she will be able to continue to practice their faith unhindered, and the non-catholic partner must agree to allow the kids to be raised Catholic. The Church, however, does not encourage mixed marriage for the obvious reasons of inevitable tensions between faith traditions. LOL, I know, I know, you got more than you asked for.
