Dear Scott:

It is not unusual for little children to have "imaginary friends." But sometimes the invisible friends are not imaginary. There are many cases of little children seeing their Guardian Angels and talking to them. It is also possible for demons to appear to little children.

In fact, my first case as a professional deliverance counsellor was a woman who had a demon that first entered her life as a "friend" when she was about 3 or 4 years old.

To be on the safe side, since we do not know for sure which of these possibilities are true in your son's case, I would advise the following:

1) bless the room and your son with Holy Water every night;

2) pray with your child some children's prayer that includes a prayer of protection (do not scare him, be subtle)

3) Pray for him on your own a hedge of protection around your son (see our spiritual warfare prayer catalog)

4) Buy the CD Sleep Sound in Jesus by Michael Card. This CD is truly anointed. I recommend it to everyone. Playing the CD all night long, on very low volume, in the child's room will tend to keep any nasties away. If the "friend" is a Guardian Angel, the Angel will rejoice in this CD. Although the CD is technically Lullabies, it is good for adults too. Playing the CD in the home, on low volume so it blends into the background, tends to calm the household if there is stress hanging in the air. Spouses have been known to fight less, the whole family may be in greater peace. I highly recommend this CD.
