Question:

i was catholic i left the church because i simply did not belive in some doctrines of the church. nor could i accept them in good faith based on my filial trust in the churchs magistrum. ill tell you one thing i do belive inthe churchs teaching on contriception. i thinkl the reason we have so many teen pregnancies is because so many people are only haveing one to two children. so kids growing up never put sex equals babies equals responcibility. sure they may know the facts of life but its never made real to them by seeing it played out in real life. its also a shame thay many of our best and brightest are not reproduceing, i think that may have dire consequinces in the next few centuries.

thanks for listning to me

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM

Dear John:

There doesn't seem to be a question in there anywhere, but your comment confuses me. You say that you cannot accept some of the doctrines of the Catholic Church, but you do accept the Doctrine on Contraception.

If you believe the Church is correct on Contraception then why not on all the other doctrines. Afterall, the Catholic Church is the only Christian group with the guts to maintain the Doctrine of Contraception unchanged.

Before 1930 every denomination on the planet though contraception was a sin. Then in 1930 the Anglican Church (Church of England) broke ranks with the rest of Christianity and decided to de-sin contraception. Within a few years every denomination on earth de-sinned Contraception except for the Catholic Church.

This is the same story with all other doctrines. The Protestants and other non-Catholic Christian groups departed from the historic Christian faith and developed their own man-made and novel doctrines.

For 1000 years the Christian Faith was in unity on doctrine until the split of the Orthodox. From 1000 to 1500 there were the Catholic and the Orthodox who disagreed on only about two points, but the rest of the historic faith remaining intact.

Then in the 16th century a tornado went through Christianity and the worse and most serious split of all took place. This split ripped apart Christianity and lead to novel and man-made doctrines that no Christian ever believed before. Now we have more than 30,000 Christian groups all claiming to have the right doctrine. Problem is that the unique doctrines of Protestants can only be traced to the 16th century. Catholic doctrine can be traced to the 1st century. This can be proved with documentary evidence. We still have manuscripts of sermons and essays from the Church fathers of the first three centuries that prove that the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd century Christian believed and practiced their faith as Catholics do -- because they were Catholics (the only Church that existed at that time).

I would suggest that you check out the pamphlets in the library of Catholic Answers. You'll find the Library menu in the Blue menu area on the left side of their website.

Also, check out Scriptural Catholic. This website provides the Biblical proof for Catholic teachings.

We will pray that you return to the Church that Jesus Himself founded and that whatever doctrines you disagree with that you will come to understand why the Church teaches those things humble yourself to accept God's teachings.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
