Attending 1 Mass after another... | Aaron | Saturday, December 18, 2004 |
Question: Dear Brother, Christmas Mass for this year - 2004 - falls on a Saturday. As such my parish church is celebrating the usual morning Christmas Mass as well as a sunset Mass commemorating the same feast. I have read about Masses for Christmas being celebrated 3 times on that day, specially apart from all other days where Mass can only be celebrated once a day...so I suppose its possible. But once we have fulfilled the obligation, do we still have to fulfill the Sunday obligation of the following day, on Boxing Day - Dec 26th, Sunday? Thanks and May you have a blessed and holy Christmas this season. |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM
Dear Aaron: The Christmas Mass, this year, is a Saturday Mass, thus it does not count as the Sunday Obligation. We still need to go to Sunday Mass. As for a sunset Christmas Mass that is to be done on Friday evening as a vigil Mass, not on Saturday evening. God Bless, Footer Notes: This forum is for general questions on the faith.
