Question:

We are all Gods children, but I was wondering what Jesus meant in reply to someone in scriptures. When he said that some would not hear the truth because they are like their father, a liar and murderer from the begining(the devil). What is meant by this?

I know we are not predestined, so could you explain what Jesus meant.Did the man reject God and choose to be the devils?God Bless, that has always confused me.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM+

Dear Lisa:

Jesus is talking about people who have chosen to reject God and instead listen to the devil who is and has been a liar and a murderer since he was kicked out of heaven.

Those who listen to the devil will have a deaf-ear to the truth. We cannot, however, consider such people hopeless. We must still pray for them and, if we have the opportunity, to present them with the Gospel. Who knows what word or action might break through the deaf wall and bring the person to conversion. We must always maintain hope for such people.

God bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
