A priest forever | Rosa | Tuesday, November 16, 2004 |
Question: I remember reading that once a priest is ordained they're a priest forever... even in heaven. How is a priest different from all the other souls in heaven? |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM+
Dear Rosa: Like with Baptism, the Sacrament of Holy Orders leaves a mark on the soul; it changes the soul. This ontological change in one's soul that comes with baptism, or that comes with Holy Orders, remains forever. Thus even if a person goes to hell, the mark of Baptism, and if a priest, the mark of Holy Orders, is still on the person's soul. As to whether this accords a certain status or position in heaven if a man is a priest, I do not know. God bless, Footer Notes: This forum is for general questions on the faith.
