Dear Nelson: There is no moral imperative to prevent buying food or clothing from a shop owner who is Hindu. Buying Hindi idols and such, on the other hand, can be a problem. If you suspect that the food or clothing has been "blessed" to a Hindu god, a simple blessing with Holy Water and a prayer will remove that. It is doubtful that the shop owners have done this. Most of the stores we shop at are not owned by Christians, but by (technically) pagans and heathens. While such owners may not have symbols of their beliefs, or non-belief, around the store, the store is still owned by such people. We do not think twice about patronizing these stores. The owners are not contaminating the goods with pagan/heathen prayers or curses. Thus, I see no problem buying food and clothing from a store owner who is Hindu.
