The presences of my deceased mother | Jess | Monday, March 5, 2018 |
Question: Bro Ignatius my mother recently passed away and it has been roughly 3 days. When I was allowed to see her in her house the temple body she lived in was still warm but she was pronounced dead already. I knelled down and put my hands on her head and gave her 1 our father, 1 hail Mary and a glory be then asked Jesus to welcome her into the kingdom. |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r), LTh, DD
Dear Jess: My condolences about your mother's death. Your experience may indeed be psychological, but it is also possible that God is allowing your mother to watch over you and comfort you in an intimate way. This is not unusual in the days or weeks after a loved one dies. There is no specific teaching from the Church on this, but the experiences of many people, and the theological understandings concerning this sort of experience suggest that this is possible. We will pray for your mother's repose and praise God that she is so intimately comforting you. God Bless, Footer Notes: This forum is for general questions on the faith.
