Was Jesus Political correct Pilate Wednesday, August 16, 2017

Question:

Dear Brother – Was Jesus Political correct?

I have trouble with all this political correctness stuff that seems to have run amok.

What I mean is this: When I was in school eons ago, it was frowned on if a man and a woman not married were living together. It was called “sinful”. Now it has become, it seems, the norm. Two people have to try to see if they are compatible so they have to be allowed to “give it a try.”

If a baby was born out of wedlock, there was of course shame. The baby was considered “illegitimate”. Now it is referred to as a “love child”. Many women want to have children without getting married even to the point of using IVF.

If a man and a woman were found to be having sex outside of marriage, it was called fornication which is condemned in the Bible. Now, it’s referred to “making love.” A man and a woman are considered strange and even made fun of if they want to remain virgins and want till marriage.

Homosexuality was considered an abomination, as stated in the Bible, now it is considered a “right” and of course there are those what will do all sorts of biblical gymnastics to prove that the bible does NOT condemn homosexual acts.

Abortion was considered murder, now it’s considered a woman’s right to choose to “terminate” the pregnancy, as if the woman has a tumor that should be removed.

It seems that the Truth seems to be offensive so wording (PC) must be changed so as not to “offend” a person or a group of people. Even to the point that it seems some Bishops don’t want to offend their flock or afraid that they will lose many followers if they call sin a sin.

I teach 7th and 8th grade CCD and I tell my students that I will NOT sugar-coat the truth. I talk about hell and sin (rather than just social justice-which I do talk about but with the mind of the Church) and about how Jesus set up a church to help us avoid hell and sin; to know, love, and trust Jesus, not merely know about Him historically; the need to follow Church laws, the necessity of going to Mass all Sundays and Holy days of obligation.

I hear many say they believe and have been taught that Sundays is an individual choice that depends on whether they have time, or if they feel like going to Mass.

If we correct those error, we are told we are not being sensitive to others and should be more tolerant. I for one think we have become too tolerant. Using PC I feel has become too tolerant.

I for one feel that if I don’t tell the children the truth and sugar-coat it and tell them all is OK, God will hold it against me and be judged with greater strictness as stated in James 3:1.

I warn them about being deceived when they get to high school and college by anti-Christians and especially by anti-Catholics.

All this PC reminds me of Isaiah 5:20, 2 Tim 3:1-5.

Your thoughts.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r), CCD, LTh, DD, LNDC

Dear Marvin:

No, Jesus was not poltically correct. Had he been the High Priest and Jewish leaders would not have asked Pilate to crucify Him.

In addition, Jesus said in Luke 12:51-53:

Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division; for henceforth in one house there will be five divided, three against two and two against three; they will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against her mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”

And in Matthew 10:34-39

“Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s foes will be those of his own household. He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and he who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for my sake will find it.

Political correct language would be an abomination to Jesus because PC language obfuscates the truth of the matter. For example:

"sexually active" really means fornication. Sexual Active can appear attractive. Imagine a sex education class in 9th grade. The teacher says: "We know that 60% of the boys will FORNICATE by the time they are in 12th grade." That sounds a little harsh and unattractive. It sounds like, well, sin.

"can't help who you love" really is an excuse to commit fornication or adultery under the ruse that it is not possible to control oneself.

“terminate the pregnancy" really means to kill the baby.

"love child" at least in my day meant that the baby was not planned by the married couple.

But, "baby daddy or baby mother" do refer to children born out of wedlock.

Gay really means "joyous" not homosxual.

Words do evolve over time in any language, but these polticial correctisms are not an evolution of anything. They are, rather, a forced bastardization of the language for political-social reasons.

None of this is what Jesus did or approve. Jesus told the truth. That truth can be said diplomatically, but Jesus often was harsh in telling the truth — depends on the sitation.

I would recommend reading two sources:

Liberalism is a Sin (especially Chapter 20 to see how Un-PC the Saints were)

Three Secret Strategies of Satan (pdf file) You have our permission to print this essay and distribute to your students. It encapsulates Liberalism is Sin, and speaks directly to the phenomena today.

Jesus was not Politically Correct. He was not nice all the time. He was not a socialist as some morons suggest. He was not a 60s flower-child. He told the truth with no obfuscations or euphemisms. He told is plain and straight-forward.

Today, Jesus would be called a racist, sexist, homophobe, Nazis, hater.

There is a bumper sticker that says: TRUTH: the new hate speech

Indeed it is.

You go ahead and do what you stated:

I teach 7th and 8th grade CCD and I tell my students that I will NOT sugar-coat the truth. I talk about hell and sin (rather than just social justice-which I do talk about but with the mind of the Church) and about how Jesus set up a church to help us avoid hell and sin; to know, love, and trust Jesus, not merely know about Him historically; the need to follow Church laws, the necessity of going to Mass all Sundays and Holy days of obligation.

God will richly bless you for your faithfulness to Truth and for teaching the next generation what they are not going to hear in the world — the Truth.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
