Evangelizing New Agers Mark Monday, May 22, 2017

Question:

How does one evangelize new agers? They do not believe in the existence of hell or the devil, and do not accept the Bible, Catholic Church, and Christianity in general because they believe they are all man made and designed to control the masses.

It's very different from engaging protestants where we can debate interpretations of a book we both believe is divinely inspired.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r), LTh, DD

Dear Mark:

A most excellent booklet on this is available at San Juan Seminars, "How to Answer Ateists and New Agers" (it is booklet #4) and other great apologetics booklets.

Catholic Answers also has some good tracts that deal with some issues that New Agers might ask. Their new website design is terrible, making it harder to find things, but either scroll down on the page I linked or use the seach function.

Remember, there is no use in arguments or unproductive debate. St. Paul warns against this in Titus 3. When it turns unproductive, walk away, even if they bait you to return. Let them have the last word, even if it is something you are refute.

Jesus said that some have ears but do not hear. I know, I use to be an New Ager. It is the job of the Holy Spirit to convince, not us. We mere present the information in as persuasive way we know how and leave the rest to the Holy Spirit.

God speed in your quest.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
