Question: Hello Is condom usage a sin if your wife is barren (aka has had to have her reproductive organs removed for medical reasons)? Why use a condom then? The condom for example could be an aid to being able to perform the marital act. Thank you for your time and God Bless
Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r), LTh, DD Dear James: There is no reason to use a condom if the wife as had a hysterectomy. What would be the point? How will a condom aid the couple to have sex? That makes no sense. If this is some sort of fetish, then I suggest contacting a counselor to deal with that. In any event, even in a situation in which either spouse is infertile, the use of condom is not to be done. Even in this situation one must always be open to life.
