Question:
Dear Brother,
As the New Year approaches, I pray for blessings for my family and others and the one thing I truly want is physical healing.
Last year I was hospitalized for malnutrition, as my former Physician did not prescribe a medication I needed for a gastrointestinal problem which caused difficulties in me eating, whereas I lost a significant amount of weight which caused muscle loss in my back and knees.
When I came home from the hospital I wasn't able to walk, but every day I prayed to God whereas I would stand up and hold on to my bedpost, take 2 to 3 steps and was walking within a week.
I've had Physical Therapy and my muscle tone will improve once I regain my weight fully, however it is a year now and I'm not completely healed which sometimes leaves me feeling a bit frustrated. I have a Home Health Aide who comes 3 times a week to help with household duties and errands and I live with my Mom as well. Because I use to be very independent, sometimes I feel a little down because I want my health to improve and I want to be able to attend to things fully for my Mother like I use to.
I've been on Disability for 3 years now, as I can no longer work due to medical conditions that prevent me from doing so; however when I did work, I had excellent jobs that I loved.
My conditions are Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Acid Reflux, Fibromyalgia, Mild Anxiety, PTSD, Osteoarthritis in the neck and Osteopenia. Because I have different medical conditions, I've been praying to several Patron Saints for healing such as Saint James for my Fibromyalgia, Osteopenia and to help with my muscle loss, as well as Saint Timothy for my Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Acid Reflux.
My question is, when a person has multiple ailments is it okay to pray to different Patron Saints for healing of that condition or should we just pray to Jesus to be healed?
If you could please give me some information, I would be grateful as I really want my health to improve.
Thank you Brother and have a wonderful and Blessed New Year!
Crystal.

Dear Crystal:
I understand your situation. I have similar multiple medical issues myself. It is difficult to live with the limitations, but we have to persevere in the faith and in the knowledge that God has our best interest at heart. That means that God may not heal us if that is what is best for us. We must accept His will, no matter what it is. I recommend our pamphlet, Christian Resignation as a Prerequisite to Freedom.
As to your question about praying to the Saints, you can pray to as many Saints as you desire. That is not a problem.
We will be praying for you.
God Bless, Bro. Ignatius Mary
