Question Title Posted By Question Date
I want salvation now. Harvey Sunday, October 16, 2016

Question:

My Catholic fiance has convinced me that salvation is VERY important. I've never believed in God (note, too, my parents are Jewish) but after attending Mass with her for months and learning about what it means I realize that I may have been mistaken all these years.
What must I do and learn to believe to achieve a chance at salvation? I've lived a very moral life, do a lot of volunteer work, and more.

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r), LTh, DD

Dear Harvey:

I praise God that you are now seeking God and His Salvation.

What you need to do is to approach your fiance's parish priest and tell him that you wish to convert. You will need to be baptized and confirmed. The priest will talk to you about that. Normally, you will need to take classes to teach you about the Catholic Faith to be sure you want to do this. You do need to believe what the Church teaches. Your conversion must be genuine.

In the end, if you believe what the Church teaches, then you may be baptized and Confirmed and may begin the Sacramental live as a Catholic Christian (e.g. Sacraments of Marriage, Confession, Eucharist).

Welcome to the family. We will be praying for you.

If you have specific questions about the faith we welcome you to return to our Q&As to ask.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
