Question: I realized after I left the Confessional that I made a mistake in the number of weeks since my last Confession. I try to go every 3 weeks and automatically said 3 weeks when in fact it wasn't quite two. Should I confess this the next time I go to Confession?

Even if you intended to lie, this, I believe, would be a venal sin. But, since there is no intentional lie, there is no sin or any kind. It does not need to be confessed. God Bless, Bro. Question:

I realized after I left the Confessional that I made a mistake in the number of weeks since my last Confession. I try to go every 3 weeks and automatically said 3 weeks when in fact it wasn't quite two. Should I confess this the next time I go to Confession?

Dear Lucy:

There is no sin here. You did not lie, but innocently misspoke out of habit. Even if you intended to lie, this, I believe, would be a venal sin. But, since there is no intentional lie, there is no sin or any kind. It does not need to be confessed.
