Question: I have been told by some traditional Catholics that attending a regular catholic mass does not help save your soul because of communion in the hand, prayer changes, etc. but I must find a Catholic Church that still follows the traditional (Latin) mass or don't go at all to these masses but to pray the mass at home. Even my confessions are wrong because many of the priests were ordained under the new law and not the canonica law. This troubles me greatly because because my soul is at stake and I don't feel my prayers are heard or answered. Please help, I am being tugged in two directions. Thank you and God bless. |

Question Answered by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OMSM(r), LTh, DD
Dear Lee: Do not listen to these people. They are not in communion with the Church. They think they are the Magisterium and with that lead people astray. They are wolves in sheep's clothing ready to pounce on good people. Do not listen to them. Remain with the Pope and Magisterium. You may go to extraordinary form Mass (Tridentine Mass) offered at any approved parish (SSPX chapels and parishes are not approved). There is no problem in this. But, to disparage any Mass as these people do of the ordinary form (post-Vatican II Mass) is a form of blasphemy. The eternal souls are in danger of anyone who leads people astray, who tell people to commit grave sin by staying home rather than attend a Mass, and who lie about priestly ordinations, who lead people away from confession, and all the rest of their blather. Let not your heart be troubled. Listen not to these people. Remain with Christ's Church under the Pope and not with the man-made church these people are trying to create in their own image.
