re: does God give a warning Joseph Monday, April 6, 2015

Question:

Brother,

Just this past weekend I got another of those "feelings" where there was extreme anxiety. I tried to ignore it as I didn't know what could be causing it. Today I got a call from a patient who thinks I wrongly charged her for something that I am not charging other patients for. Bottom line there was a mistake but she was incorrect as far as I know. At least intentionally. This patient I felt was "close" and I have treated her for at least 8 years and she turned on me pretty quick without giving me a chance to explain personally. Could this have been my guardian Angel? I do not know what benefit it gave me if any other that to may be start praying for myself but I tried to ignore it this time based on your recommendation that it is probably just coincidence. Perhaps I should just pray in the future? I did go to confession two weekends ago and what stayed in my memory was the priest praying for "any evil I must endure" to help me to heaven so to speak. I thought that curious and nice but somewhat unsettling as I didn't want to think about that too much :).

So basically do you think this could still be coincidence or am I given a chance to pray for myself from time to time? Thank you for your time.

Dear Joseph:

Sorry for the delay in answering.

The scenario you have given seems like coincidence to me. But, on the general subject of God giving us a warning, that does happen. I think that happened with some people on 9/11. There are many reports of this sort of thing happening and has a result a person avoids a plane crash, car crash, etc.

Other times, it is not an intuition, but an event that keeps one from disaster. Keeping in mind that much of this can be coincidence, a person may have a flat tire, or may miss his flight, or oversleep. Sometimes these may be divine appointments.

My oldest daughter experienced this. She, and my three-day old granddaughter had an appointment at the Social Security office at the Oklahoma City Federal Building at 9am April 19th. The building was destroyed by a bomb at 9:02am. Everyone in the Social Security office was killed.

Fortunately, my daughter overslept and was not at the Federal Building. She was actually awakened by the sound of the bomb. Had she been on time, she and my granddaughter would have died. My granddaughter would have been the youngest person killed.

Coincidence or divine appointment?  I lean toward the latter, but regardless of which it is the result is that my daughter and granddaughter are still alive today.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
